What is e-DDT

From paper to digital:
simplicity, safety and savings

In 1996, D.P.R. 549/96 introduced in Italy the delivery note (DDT), replacing the “waybill” (also known as the “waybill”). The DDT is valid throughout the national territory and travels with the goods, certifying the transfer of ownership from the seller (transferor) to the buyer (transferee). In order to be valid for tax purposes, D.P.R. 549/96 states that the DDT must contain: a serial number, the date of transport or delivery, the details of the transferor and transferee, the name of the carrier and the description of quantity, quality and nature of the goods. The document shall then be kept by both parties for at least 10 years.

During transport, goods do not necessarily have to be accompanied by a paper copy of the DDT; it can be sent later and separately within the 24:00 of the day of delivery.

DDT becomes mandatory when the sender wishes to use deferred invoicing or when you the goods are sent without transfer of ownership (for example for a trial). In addition to complying with regulatory requirements, DDT is also an effective warehouse management tool, as it allows to track all movements of goods.

  • Paper documents
  • Frequent errors, corrections and risk of loss of the document itself
  • Operating costs
  • Digital document: an unalterable and anti-fraud data source
  • A single digital document accessible in real time from the entire supply chain
  • Reduction of management costs and eco-friendly paperless approach

The transition to the Digital Transport Document (e-DDDT) is bringing significant efficiency and cost savings benefits to the entire supply chain. Simplifying processes, reducing errors and optimising communication among different actors involved means cutting costs and time. Thanks to automation and integration with company management systems, the e-DDT ensures constant monitoring and complete traceability of each shipment.
